Description: Macadamia is an evergreen plant native to the South Pacific regions. It can reach 40 meters in growth and provides a very abundant harvest starting from the third year of life. The oil is obtained from the nut of the plant. Through a pressing process, an oil is obtained that is particularly rich in monounsaturated fatty acids (50-60%), with an excellent yield, about 80%. It is used in food and cosmetics.
Characteristics
Contains more than 85% monounsaturated fats, can be stored for two years without deterioration. Macadamia oil has high oxidative stabilization properties. Macadamia oil is composed of approximately 60% oleic acid, 19% palmitoleic acid, 2.8% linoleic acid and 1% linolenic acid. Also present are 3% omega-6 and 3% omega-3.
Source of vitamin E and B vitamins, contains calcium, phosphorus, iron and potassium. Unrefined oil appears light yellow with a characteristic aroma of dried fruit and fatty accents. Refined oil is lighter and less aromatic.
